“Drying Off” , Forty Foot, Sandycove – Signed Framed Print – Frame size 21 x 17″
The forty foot in Dun Laoghaire has always been a hugely popular location for hardy sea-swimming enthusiasts and novice adventurers alike. Throughout all seasons, whatever the weather, there are always bathers to be found re-energising and revitalising in the magic of the cold sea water. “Drying Off” captures one swimmer as he dries himself down and takes a last glance out to sea before it’s time to go home. With him we see other lone bathers, each with their own story and reason for wanting to reinvigorate their bodies and souls in the Irish Sea.
Re-discovering our beautiful coastline has been one of the rare silver linings of the global pandemic. More and more Irish people have found joy, delight and companionship as they have joined the growing tribe of open-water swimmers.
Ruth Moloney’s unique collection of seascapes and bathers capture the energy and fun that Irish bathers experience all year round at their favourite local swimming spots. Her vibrant colour palette and loose style reflects the movement and beauty of her subjects while each piece tells its own story.
Her fine art archival pigment prints are based on her original oil paintings which have been created using the impasto palette knife technique. Each print is mounted, framed and ready to hang. All prints are signed and titled by Ruth.
